The Eddie Ray Band is often asked how individuals can join the band or learn to play and write music. As the band continues to grow, perform throughout the community, and expand its original material, we are excited to offer private music lessons that provide the same creative opportunities to others who want to experience the joy and empowerment of making music.
Dripping Springs is the perfect place for this program to grow. Our community is supportive, inclusive, and filled with incredible talent. These private lessons are designed to nurture that talent and, over time, may lead to the development of additional inclusive bands. All private lessons are provided at the Eddie Ray Band Studio, 12102 Trautwein Rd, Austin Tx 78737.

Phil Montfort brings a lifetime of musical experience to his teaching. He began taking guitar lessons at age 12 with a bluegrass musician in Levelland, Texas. As a teenager, he taught music lessons at a local music store in Grand Rapids, Michigan, while performing in bands across the Midwest.
Phil later moved to Los Angeles to attend the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where he continued performing on the L.A. music circuit for nearly a decade. During that time, he contributed to numerous studio recordings, including two full-length albums. His career also includes national touring and years of songwriting and recording in Indianapolis.
In 2011, Phil and his family made Austin, Texas home. Since then, he has balanced teaching with a wide range of creative projects, performing as a solo artist, in acoustic duos, and as the leader of the inclusive, high-energy Eddie Ray Band. Creating and performing music with family and friends is not just his profession—it’s his way of life.
